As an open platform, we are dedicated to upholding freedom of expression. On Jonogon.org, you’ll encounter a diverse range of perspectives because all petitions are created by individuals within the community. Anyone can use Jonogon.org regardless of who they are, where they reside, or what they believe, as long as they adhere to simple guidelines that ensure our platform remains safe and accessible.
These guidelines apply to all content you post, which includes, but is not limited to, petitions, updates, comments, photographs, and usernames.
Our Community Guidelines, together with our Terms of Service, establish the rules for using Jonogon.org.
What We Encourage
Here are some practices we appreciate on Jonogon.org:
- Speak out on any issue you wish to change.
- Share your personal story when starting a petition. Personal narratives are powerful, so explain the problem and how it affects you, your family, friends, or community. Then, describe the solution and how others can contribute. We understand the need for anonymity in some situations and allow the use of aliases, especially when using your real name may compromise your safety, livelihood, or privacy.
- Select the appropriate decision maker who can address your issue. Whether it’s an individual, group, or company, work constructively with them both on and off our platform to develop solutions.
- Mobilize your network. Raise awareness by sharing your petition with friends, family, and your community. Use the platform’s tools to amplify your cause through social media.
- Be open to differing opinions. Even if you strongly disagree with a petition’s content, constructive conversations can lead to change. As long as content adheres to our Community Guidelines, it is permitted on our platform. If you disagree with a petition, consider starting a counter-petition rather than requesting its removal. However, if you believe content violates our guidelines, you should report it to us.
- Update your supporters on the progress of your campaign, including both successes and challenges. Suggest ways for them to stay engaged both online and offline.
- Be considerate. When addressing sensitive topics, such as mental health or trauma, approach them with compassion and mindfulness. Use content warnings when necessary to alert others about potentially distressing material. In some cases, we may restrict or remove content that could cause harm to others.
